My Gorgeous Sexy Brain

Yep, that's MY BRAIN.

I finally got the pictures back from my fMRI scan - this obviously being the anatomical MRI, not the functional scan itself.

I took this picture as a screenshot from the program that I was given to view my brain. You can pull the crossbar (which you can vaguely see in purple here) to move through different sections and views of the brain.

I have to admit that I am thoroughly in love with my brain. It's so pretty. Look at all the sexy structures! Can you name some of them that you see here? I can!

Corpus callosum

Pons

Brain stem

Cerebellum

Pituitary gland

Hypothalamus/Thalamus

Oh we loves it!

Side note: I just realized that I've been blogging here for just over 3 years. Holy crap, that's a lot of blogging. It's pretty funny to look back through the archives and skim through the last 3 years of my life - I didn't really appreciate how much has happened and how much has changed.

Joanna!!

What a sexy brain indeed!!! (And I mean that in an utterly non-sexual-I'm-not-hitting-on-you-but-I-love-you-for-being-such-a-kick-ass-girl!! sort of way). You're my favorite neuro-psych student of life!! I could totally see you making some nice framed art work from those to hang in your swanky apartment. What a great conversation piece!! Oh! I could find 4 of the 6 parts you listed on your post!! I had no idea where the first two were :( You can teach me! Also, I need to state how much I miss you. It's been forever since I've seen you and I know I haven't been the best with keeping in touch these past few months. I promise I'm going to start updating my blog on a (somewhat) regular basis again! Maybe this time 'round a few of us can travel to Montreal for the next installment of Harry Potter due out in 221 days (that's July 13 incase anyone is wondering)!!
Hope you're getting into lots of trouble (because that's the way you and I roll ;) ) and having a ton of fun while you're at it!! Miss you terribly, hope everything is copesetic in your hectic world!! keep it real, girlie!!

Luv ya,
Sassy Cassy

p.s - today I learned how to fold a dollar bill into a t-shirt! cool!
p.p.s - did you switch over to this blogger "beta" thing?

Ok, after consulting my copy of Grey's Anatomy, I can now point out all six parts listed! Yay me!! Although I'm still a little fuzzy as to where exactly the Pons (Varolii?) is located...my diagram is a coss-section and is a tiny bit hard to translate into a side view image. Oh well. I might be right anyway. Yay learning!

Cassy honey, I miss you tons! Thanks for stopping by, I haven't spoken to you in forever. I definitely hope you start updating your blog so I can stay current with what's going on in your life. And I am totally going to hold you to coming up here to see the next Harry Potter, you guys owe me!!

And you are so adorable for actually looking up the brain structures, heh, I loves you kiddo! I really could go for a good Cass-and-Jo-getting-hammered-and-hitting-the-bar-night!

P.S I did switch to blogger beta, not really that much of a difference so far

P.P.S How's the Euler gang doing??

Hi Joanna :)

I commented on your image on flickr (finally tracked you down and added you to my contacts list - as a friend, no less! - and here I am posting a belated comment on your blog. :)

I've been blogging for 3 years now, too, and sometimes the memories are so fresh it's unbelievable how far I've come since those days when I used to sit in my bedroom and type about my very mundane life.

People still under-estimate the true potential of the blog. But we'll show them ;)

Hey Joanna,

Congrats on the 3-year blogging! So far my blogging is the longest relationship I've ever had, which is odd and sad.

I agree, the brain scan would make for excellent wall art! All those warm oranges and yellows -- very positive.
